I don’t know anything about any of the other characters either. Also, his POVs read like a girl’s and not a twenty-year-old boy’s. She wasn’t annoying or anything, but I really don’t know anything about her and that is an issue for me. and the useless romance that usurps the plot. Most of that is due to our MC constantly being kept in the dark about what. Maybe it was because I was so disinterested that I didn’t try to pay attention? Maybe because I dozed off a few times…? Or maybe it was because there really didn’t seem to be any plot until the last sixty pages. I know it wasn’t that I didn’t understand it or something like that because I love slow, complex books. Also, I had no idea what was going on half the time. It was a very strange ending with no closure at. It’s extremely insanely slow (nothing of any substance happens) until around page 325 or so and then it picks up at breakneck speed before ending almost mid sentence. It is, however, extremely slow, almost plotless, and it’s extremely difficult to connect with or care about any of the characters. The writing is fine and the setting and premise are unique. The “Ada” to whom Lord Byron was referring was, in fact, “the only daughter of his house,” who would end up being the only legitimate descendant of a man who was known not only for his literary talent, but also for his turbulent love life. So begins the Third Canto of Childe Harold‘s Pilgrimage, the work that launched to fame George Gordon Byron, better known by the aristocratic title he inherited from his great-uncle. “Is thy face like thy mother’s, my fair child! I can only keep repeating hat it’s an emotional experience and the author dares to take daring risks that many authors might not do. There are so many layers to this book, and I don’t have the words to describe it. Before reading everyone should check the trigger warnings. Long Shot was a book that pulled all the emotions out of me. And it didn’t impact me as much as it did this time. I had a purchased copy on my Kindle however, I don’t remember it.
